Located at the base of a hill without curb or guttering, this quintessential beachside cottage had endured severe water damage over the years, leading to damp issues and structural decay. While comfortable, the home was dated and lacked insulation, making it cold and damp in winter and hot in summer.
Extensive structural rectification and comprehensive renovations were undertaken to create a stable, dry, and healthy living environment. The decayed carport deck was replaced with an open-plan, weatherproof steel structure and timber deck. The external cladding was removed, walls were insulated and wrapped, then reclad, and new better performing windows and doors were installed. Appropriate insulation was added to enhance year-round comfort. A small reverse cycle air conditioning unit, ceiling fans, and glass louvres were incorporated for optimal air exchange and cross ventilation.
